Go Lakers!

Posted in Jack's Surfboards on May 29th, 2009

It’s game 6 and that means that the Lakers can finally put the Nuggets away and move onto the finals. We’re stoked to see Kobe at his finest and them tearing through the Western Conference again. Denver has put a battle certainly, but we are confident that we’ll finish them off and it will be done. In order to show our support for the purple and gold, we’ll all be rocking our Hawaiian Island Creations “GO LA” shirts. HIC came out with these puppies just a couple of weeks ago and they’ve been flying off the shelves. So if you want to show your love for the squad, better grab one before they’re gone.

3 Inches of Blood

Posted in Jack's Surfboards on May 21st, 2009

The Canadian band 3 Inches of Blood has teamed up with Nike 6.0 to create the latest colab shoe. This time they chose to go with the Zoom Encore High to represent the band and Nike’s commitment to style. The band worked with the Nike designers to create the correct colors and style that show their heavy metal style and create something the bands followers would be psyched on. We’re psyched here at Jack’s that we got the shoes today and there is only a limited run of them before they are gone. So get ‘em while they’re hot!

From Fantasy to Reality

Saturday May 16th marked the Rob Dyrdek signing at the Huntington Beach store. He was there for a few hours just hanging out in the sunshine and signing pretty much everything that kids came up with. We were definitely psyched that Rob was willing to come out and take care of the Huntington Beach crowd while promoting his movie Street Dreams and his show Fantasy Factory. There was a huge turnout for the event and everyone was having a good time. I wonder if we’ll end up on the show? Guess we’ll see…….Here are just a couple of pics from the day.

Just signed a poster for Street Dreams

If you’re stoked on the shirt that he’s wearing, grab one by clicking below.

We got a winner

Brian is stoked on the new O’Neill wetsuits and booties that he just won in our latest giveaway. Since he was a local here in Orange County he just swung by the office after bring on vacation and grabbed his wetsuits the other day. Luckily the water hasn’t quite warmed up to boardshort temps quite yet, so these bad boys can still get some use before summer hits. Since he came in, we figured we grab a quick picture of the lucky winner holding up one of his new wetsuits.

Since the wetsuit is now gone, we’re giving away a Vestal Observer Watch. Follow this link to register and you might find your picture up there.

The 2nd installment of the All Day Antics competition is coming up quickly. This time the action is going down in Huntington Beach at 9th Street. We are co-sponsoring this event with Arnette Sunglasses. All you need to do is head down to any Jack’s location and pick up an entry form if you want to compete. We’ll need to have you and your parents fill out the appropriate spots to make sure that you’re able to compete. Even if you just feel like watching the groms shred, come out and enjoy the surfing and the weather. It should a great time out there!

Cheer On Timmy Reyes!

Posted in Jack's Surfboards on May 14th, 2009

Congratulations to Jack’s Surfboards Team Rider Timmy Reyes (Huntington Beach, CA), 26, who was the only American surfer to advance from the sudden-death elimination round to advance through to Round 2.
Timmy Reyes scored just a 3.90 out of 20 in his heat, but still managed to eliminate his opponent Mikael Picon (Capbreton, FRA), 30, from competition. Timmy Reyes is currently rated 29th overall on tour thus far with 33rd and 17th place finishes, and his advancement out of the low wave heat will potentially play an important role in the remainder of his season.
“I’m used to getting rides out there of our total combined,” Reyes said. “It was really hard – a southeast swell pushing up top. There are still waves, but it’s hard to find position. Miky (Picon) got the only wave that was good. There were a couple of good waves early today and yesterday was great. A win’s a win though. I’m stoked to get through.”
Timmy Reyes will tackle Australian Kieren Perrow (Byron Bay, AUS), 34, in Round 2 when competition resumes.
Another Jack’s Surfboards Team rider Patrick Gudauskas (San Clemente, CA), 23, made it into the contest, but was unable to escape an early elimination and suffered an equal 33rd place finish.
Good luck to Timmy on the rest of the contest! (That is if the waves decide to pick up so they can run the contest)

Do you dream of Tahiti?

Posted in Jack's Surfboards on May 8th, 2009

We sure do! Amazing reef breaks in water that is the perfect temp and super clear are just what we could go for right now. But since we have to be here holding down the fort, we’ll just have to be glued to our computers drooling on our keyboards while the WCT tears up the south pacific. When we got the call from our buddies over at Billabong that the Pro Tahiti was starting tomorrow and our Billabong Pro Tahiti gear was on the way to our warehouse, we were stoked. We immediately got the shirts loaded up on the site and the hats aren’t too far behind. If you are anything like us, you’ll be glued to your computer screen whether your sitting at work or have become a victim of the current economy. Either way, for not too much cash you can get into some of the contest gear.

What’s old is new again

We were poking around through some of the old marketing stuff today when we came across this little nugget from the 2008 U.S. Open. Nothing like our jumbotron commercial to us stoked things. Check it out!

6 Stars, 5th Place

Posted in Jack's Surfboards on May 4th, 2009

The Nike 6.0 at Lowers wrapped up this weekend and our team rider Tanner Gudasuskas surfed amazingly and finished up in 5th place. We’re sorry to not see him get the win on his home turf, but 5th place in 6 star event will give him a ton of points towards him qualifying for the WQS next year. Hopefully you got to tune in the website to watch some of the fierce competition. If not, we’ve found a great shot of Tanner going vertical during one of his many killer waves. Keep up the good work out there!

On May 16th Rob Dyrdek will be at our Huntington Beach store for an autograph signing while promoting all of the things he’s up to. We’re sure that your familiar with Rob’s work but here’s a quick refresher for those who don’t know him. Not only is he one of DC shoes’ premier skaters but he’s also the star of Rob and Big, Fantasy Factory and his latest project, The full length movie Street Dreams. If you’re in the area and want to say “hi” or just have him sign some of your stuff, come check it out. He’ll be there signing from 3-5pm on the 16th and we’re pretty sure there will be hi jinx ensuing. Come check it out!
