Evan Geiselman on Sports Illustrated

Posted in Jack's Surfboards on June 24th, 2009

We came across this article on SI.com about some young surfers that were poised to take the torch. As the greats on the WCT are starting to get older surfing has started looking towards the young up and comers to see who will be next. According to SI, Jack’s team rider Evan Geisleman is one of those young guns. Evan’s surfing has always impressed us and he’s been killing it lately. Glad to see that others are starting to realize what we’ve known for a while now. Check out this video of Evan slaying it.

Riley Metcalf in TWS

Posted in Jack's Surfboards on June 23rd, 2009

If you’ve picked up the latest issue of Transworld Surf you surely saw another Jack’s team rider featured. This issue it was Riley Metcalf’s turn to be featured in the one page snapshot. He’s been killing it in the water for us for a while and we’re stoked to see him get this feature. Surfing out of San Clemente with Lower Trestles as his backyard, he’s been honing his skills since a very young age. He’s managed two wins at Surfing America’s National Championships in the under 15 division. Now he’s 17 and got a very bright future and will begin to be known worldwide as well as he is here in Orange County. Keep up the good work Riley, we’re stoked on what you’ve done so far!

Special Edition 6.0 Jimbo Phillips shoes

Posted in Jack's Surfboards on June 22nd, 2009

In honor of the 2009 Nike 6.0 Pier Pressure competition sponsored by Jacks, we’ve been given a VERY limited edition shoe from 6.0. We are getting 5 pairs of one of a kind 6.0’s with Jimbo Phillips artwork on the heel. These shoes will also be autographed by him as well. Nike 6.0 has also planned to take over the Motel No Tell down in San Clemente and will be selling the other 12 pairs there. That means there are only 17 pairs of these in existence. Once we get them in stock, they will go live on the site and the first 5 to get their orders in, will get the shoes. Otherwise, you’ll have to head down to the motel and hope to be one for the lucky 12. Here’s a sneak peek at what the shoes will look like. One little thing though, each shoe has a different character and no two are alike, so the shoe may or may not look like the ones pictured.

Nike 6.0 Pier Pressure Contest Tee’s

Posted in Jack's Surfboards on June 19th, 2009

We’ve just gotten the final image of the Jimbo Phillips artwork for the 2009 Pier Pressure Contest T-shirt. Since they are going to be arriving at our warehouse this week, we figured that we’d get them loaded up today so people can order them up. We’re pretty stoked on this shirt, it’s artwork is done by Jimbo Phillips and looks amazing. Jimbo has been designing skateboard artwork for a long time along side his father, Jim Phillips. You’re probably most familiar with their work from Santa Cruz skateboards. Jim Phillips(Jimbo’s dad) is responsible for designing the Iconic Screaming Hand logo.

Jimbo has been working with many different aspects of the Action Sports Industry and we’re really excited that he’s been able to work with us and 6.0 on the shirt. Grab one while supplies last!

Nike 6.0’s Pier Pressure Hits Huntington June 28-29th

It’s that time again, guys: the Nike 6.0 Pier Pressure is back again! Hitting the Huntington Beach Pier hard on June 28th and 29th, the 6.0 Pier Pressure (presented by Jack’s Surfboards) is drawing hopeful junior surfers from around the globe fiending for $20,000 bucks, 1,500 points towards qualifying for the CT, and some great experience surfing unpredictable international waves.

Last year’s Pier Pressure’s top three spots were taken over by our brothers from down under: the Austrailans. But it’s going to be tough for them to defend their victories with plenty of North American talent testing their skill this year. The current Pro Junior champ, Newport’s own Andrew Doheny is hungry to top his previous Pier Pressure’s performance (4th place), along with fellow So Cal settlers Dillon Perillo from Malibu, Breny Reilly from Carlsbad, and 16 year old Luke Davis from Capistrano Beach

Nor Cal’s Cory Arrambide and (fresh off his Arnette All-Day Antics–also sponsored by Jack’s–win) Nat Young will be there to rep Ventura and Santa Cruz, respectively, while a slew of other champs from Hawaii, Florida, and and the rest of the world trying to give each other a run for their money.

Watch out especially for Jack’s Surfboards Team Rider Evan Geiselman, looking to bust through last year’s equal ninth placement in the round of 32. Good look Evan! Jack’s is rooting for you, bro!

The 6.0 Pier Pressure is one of the most adrenaline fueled surf contests out there, so be at the Huntington Beach Pier on the 28th and 29th unless you want to miss out on seeing the best up-and-comers fighting tooth and claw for that coveted top spot!

The Nike 6.0 Pier Pressure Presented By Jack’s Surfboards wants to give thanks to fellow sponsors Hurley, Red Bull, Surfing Magazine, Surfer Magazine, and WaveWatch.

Pat Gudauskas takes second in the Maldives

Posted in Jack's Surfboards on June 15th, 2009

This past week the ASP 6-star Prime Srilankan Airlines Pro took place in the Maldives. We were psyched to see one of our guys, Pat Gudauskas hammering through the heats and charging to the finals. In the final he was up against Aussie Pro Owen Wright. It was a hard fought battle with some huge scores being posted, but in the end, Owen took the title and Pat found himself in second. We’re stoked to see Pat surfing so well at this event. He won 6 of his heats and defeated some great competition on his way to 2nd. Thanks to this amazing effort from Pat, he’s now jumped up in the points standings to number 7. This inches him ever closer to making the WCT field for 2010.

The ASP contest in the Maldives and Pat’s awesome showing is just getting us even more psyched for when the tour comes to Huntington Beach in July for the U.S. Open. Since the contest is held at the pier right across from our shop, we’ve got all kinds of fun stuff planned. If you’re going to be out our way for the comp, you should definitely swing by and check out the happenings in the store.

We’re grillin!

Posted in Jack's Surfboards on June 11th, 2009

Since the temps have been on the rise and we’re finally starting to see an end to the June Gloom here in Southern California, we’re breaking out the grills and cooking up food at our Newport Store. This time the guys from Rusty are pitching in to help us feed everyone. So how do you go about getting free food you ask? Well, it’s easy, just purchase anything from our store. It can be a bar of wax, a surfboard, a key chain, a sticker, whatever and your receipt is your pass to delicious R.BQ treats. We’re firing up the grills at 11 so take an early lunch or just swing by after surfing and we’ll get some food in your belly.

Get some new rubber…..Player

Posted in Jack's Surfboards on June 10th, 2009

If you haven’t seen the latest creation from Nixon yet, get ready to have your mind blown. They’ve taken one of their most popular styles and put a new twist on it, a rubber twist. You can now get one of your favorite watches, the Player in all rubber. Every month on the 15th a new color has been released. This final month, it’s Yellow. We’re psyched to see this as the final color, now we can wear the red, green and yellow at once and have a rasta thing happening on our wrists. Seriously though, they are an awesome addition to the line. If you’re looking to spice up your wrist style, grab one. Yellow drops in a couple of days, but here’s a picture so you know what’s coming.
